The western coastline of Cape York lines the Gulf of Carpentaria. It is a wild, untamed and largely inaccessible part of the country, with absolute pristine river systems that have seen neither commercial fishing nor the inundation of the recreational fisher. We aim to take our guests to destinations where no one else ventures.
One of the many reasons that makes a trip with Eclipse FNQ Charters an adventure of a lifetime, is the variety of fish species available. In fact over 50 different fish species have been caught and recorded in one week – variety doesn’t come much greater that this!
A week long trip up to Cape York will see you fish the fresh water reaches of the remote river systems along the Western Cape, Gulf of Carpentaria, through their mangrove reaches, to the estuaries and coastal flats, or the near and far reefs.
The choice is yours as to what you want to catch. Large Spanish Mackerel, Giant Trevally, Coral trout, Red Emperor and Nannygai on the reefs, Permit, Queenfish, Golden Trevally and Giant Herring on the flats, Barramundi and Mangrove Jacks in the snags and the prehistoric beautiful Saratoga in the fresh water, all this can be achieved in a day.
